Docker Manifest

multi-architecture 이미지를 하나의 이름으로 묶는 manifest list를 다루는 docker manifest 그룹.

• 단일 이미지 자체보다 registry에 올라간 image reference 조합을 다루는 성격이 강하다.
• buildx build –platform … –push 가 많은 경우 manifest 생성을 자동화하지만, 수동 제어가 필요할 때 이 그룹을 쓴다.
• 현재도 experimental 성격 안내가 남아 있다.

docker manifest COMMAND

• create: 여러 architecture 이미지를 하나의 local manifest list로 묶음
  • 주요 옵션: –amend, –insecure
• annotate: 특정 manifest에 OS/architecture/variant 정보 추가
  • 주요 옵션: –arch, –os, –os-version, –variant
• inspect: manifest 또는 manifest list 조회
  • 주요 옵션: -v, –insecure
• push: local manifest list를 registry에 업로드
  • 주요 옵션: -p, –purge, –insecure
• rm: local manifest list 삭제

• source 이미지가 registry에 존재하지 않으면 create 이후 push 단계에서 실패할 수 있다.
• multi-platform 이미지를 새로 설계한다면 수동 manifest보다 buildx –platform … –push 가 더 단순한 경우가 많다.

• 도움말에 experimental 경고가 남아 있다. 환경별 동작 차이를 주의한다.
• registry 호환성은 구현체마다 차이가 있을 수 있다.

The **docker manifest** command has subcommands for managing image manifests and
manifest lists. A manifest list allows you to use one name to refer to the same image
built for multiple architectures.
 
Commands:
  annotate    Add additional information to a local image manifest
  create      Create a local manifest list for annotating and pushing to a registry
  inspect     Display an image manifest, or manifest list
  push        Push a manifest list to a repository
  rm          Delete one or more manifest lists from local storage
